InterVarsity’s New York City Urban Project exists to see leaders developed with the character and capacity to change the world.  We believe that every person is made in the image of God to flourish, work, rule, create, and be stewards, NOT consumers, as God intended. This is the foundation of our LoGOFF Movement and REConciliation Week 2018. (#RecWeek18) 

New York City is our first-rate classroom for 5 days as we study scripture, pray fervently and respond actively to the commandment to love our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Come and learn to use our 4 P's: Pray, Partner, Purchase, and Policy-shape, to seek God's personal, relational and systemic justice in a world filled with personal, relational and systemic injustice. 

Fighting sex-trafficking and labor slavery, building tutoring and mentoring programs, movements to fight climate change, and more are all responses to God's desire to RECONCILE all things to Himself.  

"Moving from Christian Cliques to Covenant Communities" is a core step we are inviting all RecWeek attendees to take. You can learn more about what that looks like here. If you are a Small Group Bible Study leader or seeking to learn more about what it looks like to sincerely follow Jesus with a couple friends, this is the next best step for you!

Registration for RecWeek 2018 is now open! Click on the appropriate session to register:

Please note that this year there are two options for registration:

I. Basic Registration fees for all sessions are as follows:

  •  Early Bird Price: $75 prior to January 1st, 2018 (Deadline December 31st, 2017 11:59PM)
  •  Regular Price: $100 on and after January 1st, 2018

A non-refundable 50% deposit ($37.50 for early bird or $50 for regular) is due during online registration, so please have a credit or debit card at hand. Automatic billing for the remaining balance is scheduled for April 15th 2018, but you may also pay in advance. Please remember that if you choose Basic Registration, you are responsible for securing and paying for your own housing, as well as meals and transportation (both to/from the program and within the city). We recommend securing housing sooner rather than later. A list of recommended hotels/hostels can be found in our RecWeek Guide. 

II. Special Registration costs $500 for all sessions. A non-refundable 50% deposit of $250 is due during online registration. If you choose special registration, your travel within NYC (subway fare), food, and lodging are included in your fees and will be provided while you are in NYC. Travel to and from NYC is not covered. A list of what to bring will be provided for you prior to arrival. 

Please Note: If you would like to be a Group Leader during your session, please apply here before registering. In order to be a group leader, you need to bring at least 3 people with you to RecWeek. Should you be approved to be a Group Leader, you will receive a code which will give you a discount for up to $100 off your registration, depending on your registration type. 


Arrival: Programming will begin at 1PM on the Monday of each session and run until 6PM that evening.  If you register under Basic Registration, please coordinate with your housing to find out a check-in time that will work around our programming on Monday. For those who will register under Special Registration, check-in will likely occur after the evening programming. Baggage can be stored until that time. Session locations will be announced closer to the date.

Departure: Programming will end at 1PM on the Friday of each session. Please check out of your housing according to the respective policy. 

An email will be sent prior to arrival with a "To Bring" list and more specific program location details.

When should I arrive and depart for my session? 

Please arrive by 1PM on the Monday to give ample time for check-in and travel to our programming locations.  Please check with your housing to see when you can check-in. You will be free to head back to your housing at 6PM on that Monday. You are free to depart from NYC anytime after 1PM on Friday. 

How should I travel into NYC? 

The best thing to do would be to take public transportation into the city. Do not drive your car to New York City. If you come in on a bus or van service into the city, it should be a drop off. Parking in the city is difficult and we are not responsible for your parking tickets. 

Do I have to stay on-site with everyone?

If you are a part of Basic Registration, the answer is NO. Choosing Basic Registration means you are responsible for finding their own housing. 

If you are part of Special Registration, the answer is YES. Your housing will be coordinated for you.  

Do you have any recommendations of where to book housing? 

We recommend contacting Hostel International NYC, the Local NY or one of our other partners. Our RecWeek Guide contains many helpful details regarding housing. 

Do I have to be a part of InterVarsity to come?

No, but a Group Leader must be approved via our application process.  If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out (nycurbanproject@gmail.com). Please fill out this form before registering. 

Can my church/school help pay for the trip?

Yes! You may ask your student government, church and other groups to co-sponsor you or your group to NYCUP! The gifts are NOT tax-deductible. 

Is there a discount for groups?

No, there is not a discount for groups. There is only a discount for approved group leaders.

I would like to apply to be a Group Leader during RecWeek. What do I need to do? 

Applying to be a leader of a group at #RecWeek18 means you are bringing at least 3 other people with you that are committed to taking an element from the week back to your campus/church/fellowship. You will go through the week together with your context in mind, asking questions and practicing skills to equip you to serve in your home community.  If this is true of you, please fill out this application. Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will receive a scholarship that will take up to $100 off your registration, depending on your registration type. 

I would like to pay by check. Who should I make my check out to?

All checks should be made out to INTERVARSITY with NYCUP in the memo. Do NOT have a check written out to you or to NYCUP.  If you do, they will be returned to you.

When do I turn in my money?

After you register online and pay your deposit, any remaining balance can be paid in advance by making an online payment. Auto-billing will take place on April 15th for any unpaid balance.

Where does my money go?

Your funds go towards covering the cost of speakers, staff, materials and the work of NYCUP in the NY/NJ region.

Does registration cover travel to or from NYC?

No, you are responsible for your own travel expenses to reach NYCUP and people registered under Basic Registration are responsible for the cost of public transit when in NYC. 

Does registration cover food costs?

Basic Registration: you are responsible for your own meals as a participant of our program. This will allow you greater freedom to choose what you like, as well as help those who have special diets. 

Special Registration: your housing, food, and travel costs once you reach NYC are covered in your registration. 

I'm InterVarsity Staff and want to attend NYCUP. Do I need to register?

Registration for ALL IV staff is required. The cost is free for staff who register under basic registration. Staff who register under Special Registration will receive a $100 discount. Email nycurbanproject@gmail.com for your registration code.
